Women of the Plant – Morning Tea Gathering

If you’re a woman who loves this plant, you’re warmly invited. Women have always been part of cannabis culture  as activists, healers, growers, storytellers and educators.

At 2026 Nimbin MardiGrass we’re creating a space to bring those voices together across the whole spectrum of this plant from legacy to medical, to connect and share space, at a time when community is more important than ever.

Join us for a relaxed morning tea and a chance to meet some of the incredible women shaping the cannabis conversation working across different parts of the cannabis world  from activism and politics to education and culture, and to honour the women who have been part of it long before it became what it is today.

This isn’t a formal panel. Just good conversation, shared stories, and a chance to connect with community.

Featuring

  • Kyla de Clifford

    Canna Curious

Kyla de Clifford is the host of the Canna Curious Podcast and a leading advocate for plant-based medicine in women’s health. Her career spans continents, with a background in brand management across Dubai and Doha before returning to Australia in 2016 to pursue entrepreneurship. She went on to found a fragrance business and work in property development before a shoulder injury and a family cancer diagnosis led her to explore CBD and integrative health. That experience sparked a deep commitment to education and advocacy, particularly for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. In 2020, Kyla founded Ruby Mary Botanicals in the United States, a women-centred wellness brand supporting midlife transitions through plant-based care. And more recently she launched into the Australian market with an organic hemp intimacy oil. Today, she educates and empowers women to understand their bodies and reclaim their health through evidence-based, accessible tools. Alongside her work, Kyla is a solo mother of three and brings a grounded, lived-experience lens to everything she creates.

  • Chrissie Butler

    Shamanic Healer

My work is the weaving of a lifetime of lived experience, spiritual devotion, study, ceremony, and the quiet teachings of the body and Spirit. Healing here is grounded in nervous system safety and deep respect for pace. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced. Healing unfolds in relationship with readiness. My sessions blend somatic energy healing, Reiki, shamanic practice, sound, and intuitive guidance ~ always shaped by what your body, nervous system and Spirit are ready for. No two experiences are the same, because no two stories are the same.

Today my practice bridges the mystical and the grounded: energy, Spirit, trauma-awareness, and embodied listening. I’m a lifelong student of the body and the unseen, and my work continues to evolve as I do.

  • Suzette Luyken

    Legalise Cannabis Party

I'm Suzette Luyken, a dedicated advocate for cannabis law reform in Australia. My work focuses on driving meaningful change so Australians are no longer punished for using a plant. I campaign for an end to outdated and unfair policies like roadside THC testing and zero-tolerance driving laws which continue to criminalise responsible cannabis users. I believe every Australian should have the right to use cannabis, whether medically or socially, without fear of prosecution. I strongly support • Safe, legal home grow options for patients, especially those facing financial hardship • A fairer system that protects medical users in the workplace and on the road • A thriving hemp industry that creates jobs, boosts agriculture and reduces our reliance on oil-based plastics and chemicals

Legalising cannabis isn't just about personal freedom. It’s about public health, economic opportunity and basic human rights.
