Speaker: Orion Cross, Pot Aficionado
About: Terpenes. Terps. You’ve either heard everything about them or have absolutely no clue what they are. Or, maybe, you’re in the middle? In this workshop, we’ll discover the “why’s” and “how’s” of terpenes, followed by a hands-on activity where you can make your own MellowMix.
In the “why” phase, we’ll discuss what terpenes are, and why they’re so important. Why are people so interested in these chemical compounds? Why do people want to know more?
We’ll then move onto the “how”. In this section, I’ll talk about the Entourage Effect, as well as other ways that terpenes are beneficial. How can they help? How can they be found? How can we use them?
Finally, the “now” phase. This is all about making your own MellowMix that meets your needs under the guidance of myself (and a few assisting diagrams). You’ll put together your own little souvenir to take home and use as you need.
To tie things up, hopefully, you’ll leave the workshop knowing why terpenes are important, how we can use them for specific effects, and now, being able to put together your own Mix.
Bio: Hello! My name is Orion. I’m a 24-year-old Non-binary (Enby/NB) person who loves gardening, hanging out with my plants, playing online games, and indulging in our favourite lady, Mary-Jane. I’m a big pothead and claim that title with pride! Professionally, I am a “Jack-of-all-trades”, and have experience in Business, Engineering, Hospitality, and most recently (and importantly!!), Counselling. I’m venturing into a space of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT), with a major focus on Cannabis, and how it can help clients from all stages in life. I’m heavy on harm-reduction when it comes to drug use and will always advocate for “the best you”, however YOU may see it. Outside of work, I’m always looking for something to keep my hands busy. That may land me in three places: my garden, my workshop or my office. I am neuro-divergent (ADHD, suspected Autism), and deal with chronic pain daily, which reduced my capacity to do the things I needed to do. At least, that was my life before I discovered weed. Cannabis entered my life at the best possible moment – when I needed something to help my discomfort while still allowing me to function in a way that can keep me up and moving. I wanted something natural and adaptive to my lifestyle, and not just another pill to take. With cannabis, I can live my life. Now, I’m looking to include cannabis in my professional background where I can – I’m always researching everything that’s accessible to me, staying up to date on the latest findings about weed. If I can help get this information out, maybe I can help someone else who was struggling, just like me.
